Flange Lock Nuts
A flange nut is a hex nut with an enlarged circular base flaring out from the bottom of the nut, which acts as an integrated, non-spinning washer. Flange nuts are commonly used to speed up assembly operations or in areas where their larger bearing surface can cover oversized holes or slots The additional bearing surface also serves to distribute the pressure of the nut over the part being secured, reducing the chance of damage or to loosen. This makes it useful when used with softer materials.
Flange nuts are available both non-serrated and serrated to provide locking action. The serrations on Serrated Flange Nuts displace material on the mating surface when the nut is wrenched into place, forming a connection which resists loosening. Because of the serrations, serrated flange nuts cannot be used with washers or on surfaces that should not be scratched.
AFT Fasteners provides both non-serrated and serrated flange lock nuts. Search our online catalog or contact us to request a quote.
