Machine Screw Nuts are nuts specifically designed to mate with small diameter machine screws and are typically thinner than regular hex nuts. They have flat tops, chamfered corners, and the threads are Unified Standard, Class 2B. Small pattern hex machine screw nuts are similar in design to standard hex machine screw nuts but with smaller widths across the flats and across the corners. They are designed to be used with machine screws in tighter areas where space is limited for wrenching. They can be made with any low carbon steel, brass, or stainless steel. Stainless steel machine screw nuts are commonly used when parts are subject to corrosive conditions.
