Mallets are a style of hammer that has a large head. They can be made from many materials and have a variety of uses. Wooden mallets are usually used in carpentry to drive dowels or chisels. Copper and brass mallets apply force to parts in machinery to reduce the chances of damaging the parts. Rawhide mallets may be a steel head that is covered in rawhide, or may be a rolled up rawhide head, and are generally used for leatherwork, jewelry, and assembling motors and delicate machinery.
