Shackles
Select the industrial grade galvanized or stainless steel shackle you need for your rigging applications. Our types include anchor shackles or chain shackles in round pin, safety bolt and screw pin styles with rated capacities up to 70,000 lbs (35 tons). Both galvanized and stainless steel offer excellent protection from rust and corrosion, however galvanized shackles are more commonly used for industrial applications where moisture isn’t an issue, and stainless steel shackles will provide greater protection from prolong exposure to the elements.
What are the differences between anchor shackles and chain shackles?
Anchor shackles have a larger round “O’ shaped design, whereas chain shackles have a “D” shape design. The rounded “O” shape of the anchor shackle allows it to handle a larger strap as well as having the ability to take loads from many directions without developing significant side-load. The narrower design of the chain shackle cannot handle larger straps compared to the anchor shackle, however it is generally stronger. Chain shackles should be used for high, in-line loads.
