Description

round head bolt with bearing surface that intersects with the shank at 90 °.
There are four fins 90 ° apart from each other, where the bearing surface and
shank meet (it is an acceptable variation to have two 180 ° fins opposite each other).
The head's bottom has number of concentrated circles. The shank is partly threaded
with unified pattern of thread and blunt point.

Applications/
Advantages

Used in marine and wood applications. When set in place, the fins stop the bolt from turning.
Under the head, the concentric rings prevent water from entering the bolt hole.
The additional broad diameter of the head makes washer unnecessary.

Material

Bolts made of carbon steel  follows the chemical composition requirements—
Carbon: 0.29% maximum; Manganese: 1.20% maximum; Phosphorus: 0.04% maximum;
Sulfur: 0.15% maximum

Tensile Strength

60,000 psi. minimum

Elongation

18% minimum

Plating

Typically, timber bolts are provided with galvanized finish.
